Feeling good again so back to posting

I feel like I should apologize for not blogging for so long. I have been under the weather for what seems like forever due to my fibromyalgia being so out of control. Unfortunately stress and weather dictate how I feel and both have taken over my life lately. Since we are finally getting a break from the rain I'm feeling somewhat better and  have been working on my flower and hostus gardens which have been neglected for way too long. Now if someone has a cure for the stress please post in comment section! My wonderful hubby put all new rock in for my birthday. He worked a whole day on it and it's looking beautiful again. I've been planting tons of annuals also in old pails and tins that I've been collecting over the years. Once again I've gone way overboard but what's a girl to do when she has too many to chose from. Plant something in all of them right? LOL Here's a few shots of my little peace of heaven. I hope you enjoy. :-)

Loving jars old and new

I'm in love again with jars thanks to my dear friend Lucille. I have been collecting them for years and I would show you my whole collection but that would mean I would have to also show you my messy craft room and garage! LOL So here's a few I have dug back out. Enjoy

I miss my boys

We are fortunate to have our oldest grandson a few miles from us but the other two live 3 states away and I miss them terribly. So for now I just keep looking at their beautiful faces and try to not be sad and remember how much I love them.

The face of innocence!

Aren't they the most beautiful innocent eyes? This is our oldest grandson Chase posing for Grammy's new camera.  Every day with him is a new adventure and he is teaching me what patience is all about and the Good Lord knows I need plenty of it when he's around! LOL He is wise beyond his years and you never know what is going to come out of his mouth. I love this little guy and he makes me smile every time I see him.

Dollar Tree eggs redone

I thought I had a picture of the eggs before I redid them but can't find it. Will post it when I run across it but in the mean time here's what I did to re-purpose them I bought the eggs on a stick that were glittered and of course had to make them a bit grubbier. No bling for me. LOL I once again heated up my blackened bees wax and had fun. I started by leaving the sticks in and just dipped them into the wax. When I went to break off the stick I ended up with a big hole and white styrafoam showing. So then I decided to cut them off first and used a piece of medium wire and poked it in the end to dip them. They came out clean as a whistle so there's a tip for you. I threw them in an old bowl with a tag and they are perfect. Had to pose my only bunny I haven't grubbied with them. I'm still debating leaving her alone. For now she's safe. LOL

Have to share a few more pantry cakes and bees wax and patience

I found this old wire basket at a thrift store for $1.50 and knew it had to be mine. I went home and started melting my wax and poured it into an old jello mold that looked like an egg. I'm not one for patience and put it in the freezer to rush getting it out and big mistake. It ended up breaking and I had to start all over. So much for patience huh? So while it was hardening I grabbed a carrot I found for a whole .25 and since it wasn't all that great looking I decided to dip it in the wax. Amazing how blackened wax can make almost anything look great. Then I thought maybe that .20 foam egg would work too and wow did I ever love that result. So I thought ok throw in a small pastel egg I had laying there and like I said blackened wax. Isn't it cute! It was taking forever for that wax to harden and like I said having no patience I thought I might as well make another batch of pantry cakes. I got out one of my brown bag cookie molds and made myself a few more bunnies. Once again no patience. I tried to hurry them up and took them out of the oven way too soon and had a few curl on me. So lesson for the day is patience!! One of these days maybe I will find some but for now I'm off to find another project I can hurry up and finish. :-)

Love love the primitive pantry cakes and blackened beeswax candles I just did

I have been obsessed lately with the old jello and candy molds. I made the bunny from my pantry cake recipe (you don't want to know how many I've tried till I found one I liked ) as I'm afraid to try doing wax. I have no idea how to keep it from running out of them as they aren't sealed tight. Anyone have any tips? I would love to try it as I have several old candy molds. I did do the blackened bees wax in the jello molds and LOVE them. Anyone use other waxes? I did try canning wax but so far like the bees wax better. I also rubbed both in spices to give them that perfect primitive look.

Spring may not be here but I sure feel better

I finally got around to putting out some of my Easter and Spring decorations. OK they have been on my kitchen counters for weeks and I finally got them put around the house. Like I said it takes me longer and longer to get things done anymore. I found some dark brown candle holders on sale at Hobby Lobby and painted them ivory. Also found the gorgeous green eggs there too and no I'm not going to grubby them up. They have some black bumpy specks all over them so they are great just the way they are. I put them on top of the candle holders and love the look. Then I took a big fruit can and painted it with my paint and spice mixture, added a grubby Easter label, then some pip berry with eggs on it and set two rabbits around it and felt instantly refreshed. Who needs the sun! Next I added some eggs and a pip berry ring to my beautiful bowl that I got from my friend Alison on a trip to North Carolina then put my $1 bunny I found at a thrift store in front of it. Added my rabbit candle holder with a green candle to match the eggs I found at Hobby Lobby and I already feel spring in the air.

Primitive Easter Eggs love them

I fell in love with primitives a few years ago and Easter is no exception. I'm not a big fan of the pastels. I prefer things grungy! So after tons of research I finally came up with several ways to prim up all my old eggs. I've dipped several in blackened beeswax then rubbed in spices and I've painted and sanded a few wooden ones. Still working on a few more ideas and will post them if I ever get them finished. The older I get the faster the days go and I don't seem to get as much accomplished anymore. Then there's the fact that I swear I'm getting adult ADD. I just can't seem to stay on one project and end up with 3 or 4 going at once. I'm lucky to ever get one finished. Then I end up with a mess all over the house and boy can it get out of control. I just can't seem to keep my mind on one thing. Anyone else have this problem?

Tired of the weather...

Anyone else tired of this long old winter? I am so ready for spring. I pray every day for at least some sunshine. Now that it is finally getting a bit warmer all we see is fog or cloudy damp days. I'm going to start getting out my spring decorations and maybe that will cheer me up a bit. I will keep posting as I go so maybe I can bring some sunshine to your day too. Here is a start. I have been making pantry cakes so decided to do some bunnies. I also did some in blackened bees wax and will try to post a pic of them soon also. The grass gives me hope that one of these days I will finally see my yard again. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. There I feel better already just thinking about it. :-)
